Acrylic Ink Prints

Do you want you custom screen printing to be soft to the touch?  If you do, then you need to think about the ink that you’re printing with!  You see, many custom screen prints are done with plastisol inks because they are easy to use and really affordable, but that doesn’t mean they’re perfect for every application.  Plastisol inks lack a solvent so in order to set the print you need to dry them at high temperatures which stiffens the ink.  Not all garments are going to feel great with a tough print on them, so maybe it’s time to think about switching to acrylic ink prints instead!

Acrylic Ink Prints

Acrylic inks are formulated differently than plastisol inks so that they penetrate deeper and leave behind a softer print.  These inks contain a solvent which means you have to move quickly before they dry up, but the tradeoff is a softer result and a lighter print.  Lightweight garments and flowing pieces will benefit from a lighter print because they won’t be weighed down and the movement won’t be hindered.  You still get bright colors and gorgeous prints, but just with a softer hand.  Also, since acrylic ink prints are able to easily go over seams, the ink is perfect for all over garment printing applications.
