Discharge Screen Printing

If you ever thought about or made a screen printed shirts then you know a little about the process of how they are made. There is more than one type of screen printing inks that you can use. There is a process called discharge screen printing. If you don’t know what this process is then have a seat and let me tell you about it.

Discharge screen printing is when you use a water based ink that gets soaked into the fabric of the shirt. In the actual ink there is a discharge agent that is mixed into it that will remove the dye of the shirt when it is printed. In other words it is a similar look as if you bleached a dark colored shirt. Now to add a color to the area that the shirt dye is removed, the discharge ink has to get a water based color added to the mixture.

Discharge Screen Printing

Discharge screen printing is a little cheaper than normal screen printing because of the type of ink that is used. It does not need to have an under base which is a layer of all the colors combined so that colors will look vibrant on the shirts, since the shirt is getting the dye removed of the area that there will be color. Also, these types of printing yields a softer feeling shirt, because you won’t be able to feel the ink like you do on normal screen printing.

If you love a screen printed shirt but don’t want some of the attributes that normal screen printing has then discharge screen printing is the way to go. Not many screen printers use this or have the inks. AMBRO Manufacturing is the one place that can now do this type of printing. So email us or give us a call at (908) 806 8337.

Heat Transfer Printing

Heat Transfer Printing

Heat Transfer Printing

Heat Transfer Printing can be for many different printing techniques. You can use heat transfer printing for sublimation. You can also use heat transfer printing for AFM and vinyl. Heat transfer printing really applies to anything that you will be using heat to transfer an image to a textile.

Heat Transfer Printing

Like with sublimation you use heat to transfer inks that are printed onto heat transfer paper to transfer the ink from the paper to the shirts or pants or socks or whatever it is you choose to sublimate. When using heat transfer printing for sublimation, the heat actually causes the inks to transform from a solid into a gaseous vapor that infuses into the textiles. That is how heat transfer printing is used for sublimation.

Now when you use the heat transfer printing process for AFM or vinyl it is different because the vinyl and AFM are not inks they are actually like big stickers. For AFM an image is printed onto a big white piece of sticker and then cut out. Once you have the image all peeled and ready to go you then want to do the heat printing by placing the logo onto the textile of your choice and applying the heat which in turn makes the image stick to the textile. It is pretty much the same process for vinyl except you can only do one color with vinyl. You would cut your image out of a piece of vinyl that already has a color to it and then peel away the excess that you do not need for your image and then start the heat transfer process.

In addition to this type of print, heat printing also includes foil stamping and embossing which involve the creation of custom dies and specialty textile foils.  You have likely seen this type of print when you receive your credit card bill at your favorite restaurant.  The leather portfolios with the restaurant logo on the front in gold or silver are done via the foil stamping and/or embossing process.  While debossing is similar, it technically does not involve a print, and is more so a heat stamp.

Some may argue that sublimation printing would also fit in this category of fabric decoration, and it may, I would argue however that sublimation is in itself a process.

If you would like to know more or would like to have some heat transfer printing done call (908) 806-8337 or email us here at AMBRO Manufacturing and we can help you create something awesome.

Custom Imprinted Socks

Are you looking for unique, cute gift ideas for newlyweds or maybe you’re a coach and looking for an end of the year gift for your basketball team? Why not get custom imprinted socks? Custom imprinted socks are socks that are printed with a custom design or logo of your choosing. You can get anything from a basketball team name to a business logo and everything in-between. For custom imprinted socks you can either get screen printing or sublimation. Screen printing is when the ink is printed onto the fabric and sublimation is when the ink is printed into the fabric. For custom imprinted socks for the best result it is better to go with sublimation because with sublimation you can imprinted the entire sock from toe to ankle and with screen printing you can only imprint the top ankle part of the socks.

Custom Imprinted Socks

You can only use sublimation on 100% polyester white socks but don’t worry you can sublimate the sock any color you would like from green to black and still have the logo or custom design come out in good quality and bright colors. There are many different custom designs you can come up with for your custom imprinted socks. Like I said before say you were looking for a unique gift for your newlywed friends.
