While “technically” screen printing is done mostly the same way, unique processes like scented printing, puff printing, glow printing and glitter type printing all require their own unique and specific processes. So let’s talk shimmer screen printing and what it’s about.  Shimmer is slightly different than glitter because glitter is all about the flake whereas shimmer is all about the effect.  To make a glitter print you need to use larger glitter flakes in the ink and that gives your print a gritty texture, which may not be the desired effect for your print.  Shimmer screen printing is different because it’s more like a fine metallic dust that is evenly dispersed within the ink. The resulting print has a smooth finish that you can run your hand across that won’t feel like sandpaper.  The shimmer is more subtle and grants a pearlescent shine to your ink color, so it’s great for fashion prints where feel is as important as look.
