Heat Transfer Printing

Heat Transfer Printing can be for many different printing techniques. You can use heat transfer printing for sublimation. You can also use heat transfer printing for AFM and vinyl. Heat transfer printing really applies to anything that you will be using heat to transfer an image to a textile.

Heat Transfer Printing

Like with sublimation you use heat to transfer inks that are printed onto heat transfer paper to transfer the ink from the paper to the shirts or pants or socks or whatever it is you choose to sublimate. When using heat transfer printing for sublimation, the heat actually causes the inks to transform from a solid into a gaseous vapor that infuses into the textiles. That is how heat transfer printing is used for sublimation.

Now when you use the heat transfer printing process for AFM or vinyl it is different because the vinyl and AFM are not inks they are actually like big stickers. For AFM an image is printed onto a big white piece of sticker and then cut out. Once you have the image all peeled and ready to go you then want to do the heat printing by placing the logo onto the textile of your choice and applying the heat which in turn makes the image stick to the textile. It is pretty much the same process for vinyl except you can only do one color with vinyl. You would cut your image out of a piece of vinyl that already has a color to it and then peel away the excess that you do not need for your image and then start the heat transfer process.

In addition to this type of print, heat printing also includes foil stamping and embossing which involve the creation of custom dies and specialty textile foils.  You have likely seen this type of print when you receive your credit card bill at your favorite restaurant.  The leather portfolios with the restaurant logo on the front in gold or silver are done via the foil stamping and/or embossing process.  While debossing is similar, it technically does not involve a print, and is more so a heat stamp.

Some may argue that sublimation printing would also fit in this category of fabric decoration, and it may, I would argue however that sublimation is in itself a process.

If you would like to know more or would like to have some heat transfer printing done call (908) 806-8337 or email us here at AMBRO Manufacturing and we can help you create something awesome.

Custom Canvas Prints

Is your child getting ready to go on their first college experience and you’re looking for a unique gift to give them to hang in their dorm room for those moments when they get homesick? Or maybe your first wedding anniversary is coming up and you’re looking to get your significant other a gift they and you can cherish for a lifetime? Or maybe you own a business and are looking for a new unique sign to hang in the window. Why not get custom canvas prints? Custom canvas prints are when custom images or designs are printed on canvas. There are a couple different ways to get custom prints on canvas but the best way is sublimation.

Custom Canvas Prints

Sublimation is the printing process where the ink is printed into the canvas and not onto it. This very simple technique is initiated by heat and controlled with pressure and time. Sublimation printing can only be done on material that is 100% with polyester, but don’t worry the fabric canvas we use is in fact 100% polyester. Sublimation printing doesn’t crack or fade and is long lasting so as long as you have your canvas you will have your print. For example, say you are looking for a trendy new sign for your business window. You can get your logo sublimated onto the canvas in however many colors your logo is. It will be eye-popping and catchy to the eye. Not only can you get logos and design printed on your custom canvas but you can also get pictures as well. Like I stated before say your child is getting ready for their first college experience, you can get them a custom canvas print of pictures of them and their friends and family and even their pet. It is a great for when they get a little homesick. If you would like to learn more please call (908) 806-8337 or email us today!

All Over Shirt

All Over Shirt

All Over Shirt

AMBRO Manufacturing is a privately held and operated contract screen printer in Flemington, NJ.  Our specialties include : Jumbo Screen Printing, Over Sized Screen Printing, Large Format Screen Printing, Sublimation Printing and All Over Shirt Printing.

All Over Shirt

All Over Shirt Screen Printing is very different than standard screen printing.  The first and most missed element is the various additional screens required for the process.

In most standard screen printing jobs, the most screens that you might use for different sizes would be two sets.  Typically a set for adult and a set for youth.  In All Over Shirt Screen Printing, one set per size is required.  So if you have 6 sizes in your run and you have 4 colors in each design, you’ll need 24 screens for that single job.  Since screen setup costs for All Over Shirt prints tend to be higher, you may want to prepare your client for much higher setup fees.

By natue an All Over Shirt screen print is … well … all over.  The integrity of a specific design might be impacted by the size of the shirt.  As an example, let’s say that you were licensed to print Kermit The Frog.  If Kermit’s head was 30 inches wide in the design and you were printing on Small, Medium, Large, XL and 2XL, Kermit’s ears would not get printed on the smalls and mediums because 30 inches exceeds the width of those garments.  Kermit would fit perfectly on the large and on the XL and 2XL there would be a lot of blank space.  Each size shirt in the rung would make the design look very different.  It is for this reason that in a true All Over Shirt print, separate screens for each size shirt must be made.

Large Screen Printing

Large Screen Printing

Large Screen Printing

Large Screen Printing is a relative term in the screen printing industry.  Many screen printers claim to have the capabilities to print Jumbo Screen Prints or Over Sized Screen Printing.  Some call this All Over Shirt Printing or All-Over-Shirt Prints.  Ideally, Large Screen Printing is the largest surface area of print that you need for your project.

Large Screen Printing

As an expert garment, textile and fabric printing company, AMBRO Manufacturing has over 30 years of experience in the Screen Printing industry.  Our primary specialty is Large Screen Printing.  With a standard large print area of 40″ x 40″, we can handle most Large Screen Printing jobs without the need for retooling.  However, we have an onsite machine shop that is capable of developing any size screen required for your print job.

When using Large Screen Printing for your project, keep in mind that unlike traditional screen printing, all over prints require that you have a separate screen for each size garment in your run.  This will translate into slightly higher setup costs but will result in you achieving your overall result.

Custom Dye Sublimation Printing can often be mistaken for Large Screen Printing.  The overall nature of the print is similar, but the technologies are different and the look and feel of the fabrics are also different.

Sublimation technology requires polyester fabrics and Large Screen Printing has no fabric preference.  This is a benefit for using screen printing.  However, Sublimation technology saturates the fabric and leaves virtually 100% coverage with no added weight or feel to the garment, Large Screen Printing leaves a fair amount of ink on the surface of the fabric.

Working with large screen printing and all over shirt printing experts is a must when considering a project of this type.  Pre Planning makes a huge difference in the end result.

If you are interested in Large Screen Printing, please consider giving us a call (908) 806-8337 or email us.

Full Dye Sublimation

Full Dye Sublimation

Full Dye Sublimation

AMBRO Manufacturing is a garment, textile and fabric decorating company with over 30 years of embellishment experience.  Our specialty areas of decoration are over sized screen printing, jumbo screen printing, all-over-shirt printing and Full Dye Sublimation.

Full Dye Sublimation

The process of Full Dye Sublimation involves specialized wide format industrial printing equipment, specialized sublimation dyes, industrial heat and pressure, and white polyester fabrics.

Polyester fabrics come in a wide range of styles and textures for Full Dye Sublimation.  The more polyester content that is included in a fabric, the more vivid and crisp the colors and design for the Full Dye Sublimation project will be.

Polyester family members like Rayon, Nylon, Satin and Spandex will also work well.  Fashion tees that have a blend of cotton and polyester can work, but the more cotton that is added to the fabric blend, the less bright and less crisp the images will be.

Full Dye Sublimation is typically used for cut and sew projects where the fabric panels required in the garment are cut and dyed first, then sewn together.  However, with recent advances in Full Dye Sublimation technologies, companies like AMBRO Manufacturing can produce post sewn Full Dye Sublimation garments, i.e. T-Shirts, Hoodies, Tank Tops etc … that have already been sewn into those items, can be placed flat on the press and sublimated.

When using an existing garment for a Full Dye Sublimation project, there will be some areas of the garment that are not able to receive the sublimation print.  These areas are typically where the shirt creases, under the arm pits, near the seams etc.  This is unavoidable when sublimating on existing garments.  Even the most experienced sublimation printing experts can not avoid this issue.

The solution is to create artwork that understands these limitations and makes them less noticeable.

If you are interested in a Full Dye Sublimation project, please consider giving us a call (908) 806-8337 or email us.

Sublimate

Sublimate

When you Sublimate a T-Shirt what is happening is that you are using specialized dyes and heat applications to create a 360 degree look and feel for the T-Shirt.  Sublimate technology involves industrial heat and pressure, dye sublimation inks, wide format industrial printers and experience in the art of dye sublimation.

Sublimate

One of the questions that we get asked on a regular basis is “Do you sublimate?” and the answer is “yes we do!” but what most people don’t realize is that the art of sublimation comes in two very different and distinct processes.

The first type of sublimation is done in a cut and sew scenario.  In this type of process, rolls of fabric are cut into the panels that will be used for the production work.  These panels are sent to sublimate, and when returned, are sewn together into the finished garment.  Using this method, there is 100% coverage of sublimation decoration and the finished product has no gaps near seams where sublimation did not occur.  This method is preferred and used by most large manufacturing companies.

The second type of sublimation is done in a post cut and sew scenario.  In this type of process, the garments are already sewn into it’s finished product, for example a T-Shirt.  This T-Shirt is ironed flat with an industrial iron and then sent to sublimate.  This process works well, but there are some defects that can’t be avoided.  In particular, blank areas on T-Shirts where sublimation does not occur, can typically be found near the seams, in the arm pit areas and by the neck.

When comparing the price of cut and sew sublimation to post sewn sublimation, the differences are vast.  So small defects that are hardly noticeable, are often accepted by the customer.

If you want to sublimate, please consider giving us a call (908) 806-8337 or email us.
