Screen printing is when you use silk screens that have a design on them to apply inks to a garment with a printing press.  Multiple screens are used when multiple colors are involved because each screen gets its own separate color which will culminate in a complete image at the end.  DTG is short for Direct to Garment printing which a type of digital printing.  With DTG, a machine that works like a giant desktop printer applies inks to a garment until the full image is realized.  Since DTG is applied digitally without the use of screens, it’s better suited for more detailed and colorful images on single shirts.  Screen printing is better suited for massive wholesale runs with more simplified artwork because you can set up a screen and produce them assembly-line style.
