What is Sublimation

What is Sublimation

The process of dye sublimation enables fashion designers and entrepreneurs to launch new lines of clothing with vivid and eye catching fabrics in days rather than weeks and months.  If you’ve been asking yourself what is sublimation, it’s without doubt a subject that you want to familiarize yourself with, especially if you are involved in the fashion industry.

What is Sublimation

Dye sublimation is effective only on polyester of polyester family member fabrics.  For example, fabrics like Nylon, Rayon, Spandex, Satin and Polyester blends all accept dye sublimation printing and provide vivid results.

Using the right garment decorator that has experience with dye sublimation, opens virtually limitless options for fabric designs.

What is Sublimation?  Sublimation is your key to rapid fashion prototyping, low run minimums and amazing production quality results.  Almost any garment can be sublimated.  Speaking with a sublimation industry expert can help give you ideas on what products that are pre-sewn can be sublimated.  Items like T-Shirts, Shorts, Pillow Cases, Socks and Headbands can all be dye sublimated.

In order to successfully launch a dye sublimated brand, partnering with a qualified Sublimation Specialist is essential.  Jumbo all over shirt printing requires industrial sublimation equipment and experience.  Working off shore can provide low price points, but often results in long turn around times, inconsistent quality and frustration.

There are qualified U.S. companies like AMBRO Manufacturing that offer fast turn around, prototyping, phone and in person consultation and competitive price points.  Investing in a product launch that requires sublimation is not challenging if you partner with the right Dye Sublimation expert.

If you have been asking yourself What is Sublimation? AMBRO Manufacturing is interested in speaking with you.  Please consider giving us a call (908) 806-8337 or email us.

All Over Sublimation Printing

All Over Sublimation Printing

The process of converting a 100% polyester white Tee Shirt into a work of art is called All Over Sublimation Printing.  This process involved amazing artwork, specialty printing equipment, experience and a lot of work space area.

All Over Sublimation Printing

There has been a major resurgence of All Over Sublimation Printing in today’s fashion market.  Many of the all over t shirt designs that you see in retail stores today are All Over Sublimation Printing.

Sublimation printing offers a lot of flexibility to the professional and amature fashion designer.  With the ability to wrap a design in 360 degrees around a Tee Shirt, the possibilities of design are truly endless.

When All Over Sublimation Printing was first introduced, limitations of design included the need to have a completely flat piece of fabric to sublimate.  This meant that designers that wanted to use sublimation printing had to also involve cut and sew in their process.

Today, with advanced in wide format printing, industrial heat supply and some clever Tee Shirt designing, All Over Sublimation Printing can be accomplished on an already sewn Tee Shirt.  There are some glitches in the process and it’s impossible to achieve 100% coverage, but experienced sublimation printers can achieve 98%-99% coverage.  Some “missed” areas may occur near the neck line and the arm pits.

When comparing the cost of a cut and sew project with a post sewn Tee Shirt Sublimation project, those small glitches are often acceptable to customers.

AMBRO Manufacturing is a large sublimation printing company based in New Jersey.  Our expertise on all over printing including sublimation printing can assist you in your sublimation printing project.

Sublimation Printing T Shirts

Sublimation Printing T Shirts

AMBRO Manufacturing is a custom garment, textile and fabric printing company in New Jersey.  An area of specialty for our company is Sublimation Printing T Shirts.

Sublimation Printing T Shirts involves the use of specialized fabrics, typically polyester, or polyester family members i.e. Rayon, Nylon, Spandex, Satin etc … Industrial Heat, Specialty Inks, Knowledge and Experience all go into making the perfect dye sublimated T Shirt.

Sublimation Printing T Shirts

AMBRO Manufacturing provides Sublimation Printing T Shirts wholesale to the trade.  Prices on per print for dye sublimation range from $9-$15 for a typical sized garment.  Fabric sublimation ranges based on the width of the fabric and the design.

While most of the work that we do is on already finished garments, we do offer Sublimation Printing T Shirts services but for fabric printing only.  If you are a cut and sew operation or you would like us to cut and sew your project, we can accommodate those requirements as well.

When working with your clients on their Sublimation Printing T Shirts projects, you will want to encourage them to design their artwork in a way that allows for some of the nuances of sublimation printing on a post sewn garment.

For example, small creases usually near the neck line or arm pit area can occur when providing Sublimation Printing T Shirts services on post sewn garments.  The reason for these tiny issues relate to not being able to keep a post sewn garment completely flat.  While 98% of the garment will be sublimated, it’s nearly impossible to get 100% coverage due to seams and wrinkles.

When you weigh the costs of a full cut and sew project with these small issues, it is often acceptable to have small white / non-sublimated areas in your Sublimation Printing T Shirts projects.

Dye Sublimation Printing

Dye Sublimation Printing

Dye Sublimation Printing is a specialized garment decorating technique that involves sublimation inks, polyester fabrics and large scale industrial heat.  A question that we get asked a lot is what are the wholesale costs of Dye Sublimation Printing?

Dye Sublimation Printing

As a wholesale provider of Dye Sublimation Printing, AMBRO Manufacturing works with a large number of resellers and brokers of garment decorating services.  When the question of price comes up, we typically see a shock reaction to the decoration costs of wholesale Dye Sublimation Printing.

Most contractors are use to contract screen printing prices which range in cost from $.90 to $3.00 depending on the quantity of garments being decorated, the number of colors and various set up costs.  Screen Printing is a quick process where dozens of shirts can be produced each hour.  Along with scale, comes a lower price point.

With Dye Sublimation Printing, even in a wholesale environment, costs typically range from $9 to $15 per print side of a T-Shirt.  This means that a completed shirt, at wholesale, can be anywhere from $18-$30 in price, which is far more than $.90 or $3.00.

What brokers must realize is that typically, even in an industrial setting, sublimation is a lengthy and costly process.  Each shirt has to be done one at a time and printed twice, once on the front and once on the back.

When Dye Sublimation Printing on fabric, i.e. not already sewn T-Shirts, the process is far different.  Fabric Dye Sublimation Printing is typically done on a roll to roll machine that can run 24 hours per day sublimating hundreds of yards of fabric per hour.  That fabric can then be sewn into garments at a later time.

However, when Dye Sublimation Printing on already sewn T-Shirts, you can’t use roll to roll Dye Sublimation Printing and individual operators have to spend time flattening each shirt, one at a time, and carefully pressing images onto each side of the T-Shirt while protecting areas of the shirt that should not be sublimated.  When you add the cost of the equipment, inks and disposables used for each shirt, the costs have to be far higher than screen printing.

Higher costs on wholesale Dye Sublimation Printing should not be a surprise, as these garments typically retail for between $65 and $85.  When you are talking with your clients about sublimation, setting their expectations to a higher price point is important.

Large Screen Print

Large Screen Print

Large Screen Print projects require specialized and unique equipment to accomplish.  Most screen printing facilities offer standard print sizes and won’t allow for a Large Screen Print.  After all, most screen printing presses are made for T-Shirts, so even if you wear a 6XL, you don’t need a design much bigger than 14″ on the front and back of your shirt.

So what happens if you need a print image that’s 40″ wide or wider?  What if you don’t want the image screen printed on a T-Shirt but you want Large Screen Print for fabric panels?

Most standard screen printing companies would have a challenge printing on large fabric panels.  With our jumbo screen printing presses, AMBRO Manufacturing can print on any fabric, of any size.

Large Screen Print

Large Screen Print requires the use of specialized equipment and knowledge.  What makes jumbo screen printing even more challenging is that for some Large Screen Print jobs, equipment is not available to accomplish the work.  This means that custom screen printing shops like AMBRO Manufacturing have to manufacture or re-tool equipment to achieve your desired results.

Using our in-house machine shop will custom fabricate the necessary parts and adjustments to achieve the best results for your project.  Our experienced staff will guide you through the entire process, answering each of your questions and getting our questions answered so that we can achieve the right results for your project.

A large part of a successful Jumbo Screen Printing project is early communication.  When our design team understands the screen printing requirements of your project, we can guide your team early in the process to ensure that the print quality that you expect is achieved.

Tees Design

Tees Design

AMBRO Manufacturing specializes in Tees Design and has been decorating garments for over three decades.  Our in-house Tees Design staff has access to a wide range of garment decorating technologies that include : Oversize T Shirt Printing, Jumbo T Shirt Printing, Sublimation Printing, Embroidery, DTG (Direct To Garment) printing and Digital Vinyl Print and Transfer.

Tees Design

There are many  online t shirt designing tools that enable individuals and companies to create custom Tees Design with relative ease.  However, these tools are somewhat limiting and only allow for stock clip art, uploaded clip art and some fonts to be used.  More advanced Tees Design methods like half tones, jumbo prints, drop shadows and other techniques and methods that make your Tees Design pop are not available in most online t shirt design tools.

Most contract screen printing companies have in-house art staff that can work with you to create Tees Design that could never be accomplished with a cookie cutter t shirt design tool.  You might be amazed at some of the things that you can accomplish with an affordable two color design, or a one color design that incorporates fades and half tones.

Using online design tools is great if you want a standard size print shirt, with minimal artistic flair.  But if you are looking for the wow factor and you want to turn heads with your designs, working with a talented T Shirt artist at a contract screen printing company can produce amazing results.

If you are concerned that working with a professional on staff artist will increase the cost of your project, you might be interested that many contract screen printers won’t charge you for art if you are ordering a specific quantity of T Shirts.

If you are interested in Tees Design please consider giving us a call (908) 806-8337 or email us.

Dye Sublimation T Shirt Printing

Dye Sublimation T Shirt Printing

One of the most impressive design methods for T-Shirts is the use of Dye Sublimation.  Dye Sublimation T Shirt Printing begins with a 100% white polyester t-shirt, a custom dye sublimation printer, special transfer papers, and most importantly a very good industrial heat iron or heat press.  The end results of Dye Sublimation T Shirt Printing is heavily reliant on ink quality, technique and heat.

Dye Sublimation T Shirt Printing

Companies that are launching their own line of t-shirts and are starting on a shoestring budget often turn to Dye Sublimation T Shirt Printing because of the low cost of entry.  Unlike screen printing that requires custom screens to be created for each color, and where the number of colors heavily influences the price, Dye Sublimation T Shirt Printing has virtually no setup, and the number of colors is irrelevant to the pricing.

The design work for each project begins at the concept stage, moves into the computer using standard graphic design software, and in minutes, a brilliantly colored t-shirt is created.

Many start up companies consider getting into sublimation and doing everything in-house, and there are some compelling offers out there for desktop sublimation set ups.  The issue that most start-up companies don’t consider is that one of the distinguishing factors of Dye Sublimation T Shirt Printing is the “all over” printing aspect.  100% of all desktop sublimation setups limit the user to a square or rectangular print field that is smaller than the overall garment.  This means that while you can sublimate on a budget, you can’t possibly cover the entire garment front and back with a desktop setup.

Serious Dye Sublimation T Shirt Printing operations have massive heat machines as big as your car that are required to print all over the garment on the front and the back.

Another consideration is that Dye Sublimation T Shirt Printing requires a 100% white garment to begin.  The t-shirts that you’ve seen are likely not all white, and that’s because the printer of that t-shirt changed the color from white to whatever colors were required in the design.

With a desktop setup you will be limited to a mostly white shirt, with sublimation prints in small areas.

If you are interested in launching your own line of sublimated t-shirts or you are interested in Dye Sublimation T Shirt Printing in general, please consider giving us a call (908) 806-8337 or email us.

Wholesale Sublimation

Wholesale Sublimation

Dye Sublimation has dramatically increased in popularity in the last 5 years.  Most of the new lines of t-shirts that are hitting the market from small start-up companies are being printed using the Dye Sublimation process.  Wholesale Sublimation printing is a key component for these start-ups.  Dye Sublimation involves using specialized opaque inks and heat to fuse high quality images or designs into fabric and other polyester substrates.  Dye Sublimation will only work on 100% polyester fabrics or substrates, or a fabric or substrate with a high concentration of polyester.  Cousins of polyester like Rayon, Nylon, Satin and Spandex also work well for Sublimation Printing.

When searching for Wholesale Sublimation partners, small start-up companies need to be careful of selecting the right partner.

Wholesale Sublimation

When searching for the best Wholesale Sublimation partner to help launch your new line of t-shirts consider these things:

1. Will they create prototypes for you i.e. one of a kind to wear test and show off

2. Do they have low minimum orders 25 per run?

3. Can they provide fast turn around time within 2 weeks.

4.  Will your Wholesale Sublimation partner collaborate with you?

5.  Does your Wholesale Sublimation partner have patience and time to talk to you?

If you are launching a brand new t-shirt line, sublimation is a great option.  Screen printing works well and looks great, but for small run launch, sublimation is going to enable you to get an amazing print product and keep your launch costs low.

If you are looking for a high quality Wholesale Sublimation partner, we would be very interested in talking with you.  We are start-up friendly and are very flexible, which makes launching your new line of sublimated t-shirts a breeze.  Please consider giving us a call (908) 806-8337 or email us.
