Custom Discharge Printer

For those who aren’t very familiar with working with a custom discharge printer, the idea of discharge printing is actually quite simple.  For most screen printing you essentially create silk screen stencils to apply inks to a garment which results in a custom print.  If you want to print a light color on a dark garment, you’ll need to create a white ink layer underneath to help make the colored ink on top vivid and prevents the color from shifting.  The added layer of ink can make the print feel extra thick, especially when using plastisol inks.  Discharge printing is formulated differently so that you won’t need to add extra layers of ink and you can still get soft, vibrant printing.

A discharge ink is a water based ink that has an added discharge agent which is responsible for removing the existing color from a fabric so that you can print your desired color in its place.  You just apply the discharge ink, which can be mixed with a custom pigment, like you would any other screen printing ink, but when it comes out of the dryer you have a gorgeous print in the color you wanted!  If you would like to make AMBRO Manufacturing your custom discharge printer, or if you would like to learn more about the process and any of the other customization options we have to offer, you can contact us by email or by giving us a call at (908) 806-8337.
