Searching for a high quality, U.S. Based and reasonably priced Sublimation Printing Services company can be a daunting task.  Unfortunately, most Sublimation Printing Services have been moved off shore to China, India and Taiwan.  Labor in these parts of the world enables companies off shore to compete on a price point that just can’t be achieved in the U.S.  However … there are still hight quality Sublimation Printing Services in the United States that offer fair and reasonable pricing, faster turn around and better quality that you can get elsewhere.

Contract Screen Printing

When seeking out new Contract Screen Printing providers to assist in your screen printing projects, the task at hand is not a simple one.  There are thousands of Contract Screen Printing companies in the United States and all of them come in a variety of sizes and shapes.

On the small end there are mom and pop organizations that operate out of their basement or garage, have a manual screen press, a small dryer and are capable of producing 500 shirts a day after which point they collapse from exhaustion.

Then there are medium sized shops that have 1 maybe 2 automatic machines, a large belt dryer and are capable of producing between 1,000 and 2,000 shirts a day.

And lastly, there are mega shops that have anywhere from 3 to dozens of automatic presses, multiple dryers and are capable of cranking out a tens of thousands of shirts a day.

Contract Screen Printing

Each potential Contract Screen Printing partner has their pros and cons.  Things to think about when selecting the appropriate type of Contract Screen Printing partner are:

1.  Are they big enough to produce the quantity of items that you need within the time frame that you need them.

2.  Are they too big for you?  Will you be treated like a customer or a number?

3.  Do they have all of the capabilities that you need to complete your project or are they a specialist/one trick pony?

4.  Can this company grow with you and satisfy not only your current requirements but your future needs as well.

5.  Is their communication style and frequency to your liking?

Of course these are only a few of the things that you will want to think about, but this gives you a good head start on the best way to approach finding a new Contract Screen Printing partner.

All Over Print Shirts

All Over Print Shirts

All Over Print Shirts

There is often confusion on the type of printing used to accomplish the look of All Over Print Shirts.  There are essentially 3 methods of achieving an all over print shirts look, and two of the three methods can be accomplished on existing garments.

All Over Print Shirts

Method #1

The most popular method today for producing All Over Print Shirts is the use of custom Dye Sublimation Printing.  This process involves the use of an already sewn T-Shirt that is completely white and made out of 100% polyester, high poly blends like 80/20 or 70/30 or made with polyester family members like: Spandex, Nylon, Satin, Rayon etc …

Sublimation T Shirt Printing will enable a designer to create a T-Shirt design that can be printed on the neck, sleeves, waist, front and back of a T-Shirt.  Using specialized dye sublimation inks and industrial heat and pressure, designs are fused into the fabic of the T-Shirt.  The result is eye popping colors, crisp edges, photo realism and a no-feel design.  Since the inks are dyed into the fabric, there is no feel to the design, it as if the shirt were manufactured that way during the fabric creation stage.

Method #2

Using special screen printing equipment that is designed to print all over the face of a T-Shirt, specialty garment, textile and clothing companies like AMBRO Manufacturing can provide All Over Print Shirts services using screen printing.  Most people think that sublimation or patterned fabrics are the only way to achieve and all over print shirts look, this isn’t true.  Jumbo Screen Printing or Over Sized Screen Printing can produce an amazing effect and accomplish printing on post sewn T-Shirts.  This print can extend on the sleeves, neck, T-Shirt Wrap Around Printing and down to the waist.  Front and back printing can be accomplished as well.

Method #3

The final method of accomplishing an All Over Print Shirts look is to use custom patterned fabrics.  This can only be accomplished in a true cut and sew project and requires that the shirts be manufactured to your specifications.

Not too many garment, textile of fabric decoration methods will upstage the wow factor of a custom Sublimation Print.  Using polyester fabrics to make Dresses, T-Shirts, Socks or other items, designers can produce amazing all over prints using the process of custom Sublimation Print.

Sublimation Print

Designing cool cloths requires a special talent that involves vision, fashion sense and a sense of adventure.  Patterns and solid colors are cool, but using a Sublimation Print is cooler.

Polyester, Rayon, Nylon, Satin and Spandex can all accept a Sublimation Print well.  Even fabrics that contain cotton can be used, as long as the polyester content doesn’t drop below 70%.

The technology behind a Sublimation Print involves specialized dye sublimation inks, graphic design, polyester and industrial heat.  Once artwork is prepared, it is first output on special wide format industrial printers, this output is printed on specially coated papers and then transferred with heat and pressure to the fabric.

Unlike screen printing where the design is printed using inks that lay on top of the fabric, custom Sublimation Print technology fuses the design into the fibers of the fabric.  The design is converted from the sold ink that it begins as into a gas and back into pigment in the fabric.

When wearing a garment that was created with a Sublimation Print, the person wearing it can not feel the design on the inside or outside, it as if the fabric were created that way from the start.

Most Sublimation Print projects are done in a cut and sew shop where panels of fabric are cut, sublimated, edge to edge, then sewn together into a finished garment.  But with advances in Sublimation Print technology, it is possible to sublimate on already sewn items with a very high degree of success.

The process of Sublimation Printing creates simply amazing results that will wow even the most discerning critic.  Using vivid and vibrant ink sets, polyester fabrics and creative artwork, Sublimation Printing companies can create stunning and eye catching designs that can cover an entire garment from sleeve to sleeve and neck to waist.

Sublimation Printing

As a garment, textile and fabric decorator with 30 years of experience and know how, AMBRO Manufacturing specializes in Sublimation Printing.

Using specialized sublimation ink sets, AMBRO Manufacturing creates vivid works of art that can be printed on virtually any garment.

Sublimation Printing is a decoration method that was once limited to cut and sew operations, where individual panels are cut, sublimated and then sewn together.  However, with advances in sublimation technologies, today, Sublimation Printing can occur with success on post sewn garments, meaning, Sublimation Printing can occur successfully on T-Shirts that are already sewn into T-Shirts.

Sublimation Printing is a fantastic method of decoration to achieve photographic realism, crisp and clear lines, vivid colors and 360 degree coverage.  There are however a few limitations that should be considered when working with sublimation as a process.

The first rule of working with Sublimation is that the fabrics used must be 100% polyester, or a polyester family member like Rayon, Spandex, Nylon etc … Or the fabric must have a high polyester content like 80/20 or 70/30.  Going with a fabric that is less than 70% polyester will result in muted colors, fuzzy details and an overall unsatisfied customer.  The more cotton that is introduced into a fabric, the less brilliant and crisp the sublimation printing results will be.

Before starting any Dye Sublimation project, the best approach is to consult with your Sublimation Printing Company to gain expert advance on how to proceed.

Cut and Sew

Cut and Sew

Cut and Sew

The process of Cut and Sew manufacturing was once an American main stay business, but today, the vast majority of Cut and Sew manufacturing is done off shore.  Why?  Well … that’s a long story, but let’s just say that it’s because most people are accustom to paying between $7-$12 for a T-Shirt, or $15.95 – $22.00 for a pair of shorts, and with American wages being what they are, and the cost of doing business what it is, those figures just can’t be matched in the United States for cut and sew.

However, there are several niche Cut and Sew manufacturing operations like AMBRO Manufacturing, that still keep the business alive and profitable in the United States.

Cut and Sew

There are a few important factors that you might consider when looking to do Cut and Sew manufacturing in the United States.  Here are some to think about …

1.  Most American Cut and Sew companies are not going to be able to do a project for you if your requirements are less than 500 pieces.  Unlike home sewing, industrial machines are set up to perform specific tasks quickly.  They are set to work with specific fabrics using specific threads and they can only do one thing.  So if the companies that you are considering are making canvas bags and you want cotton T-Shirts, they are not going to want to re-tool their machines to make you 36 T-Shirts.  So think of the volume that you need when researching companies.

2.  The price point compared to over seas sewing is going to be at least 5x higher.  One must understand that the U.S. promotes safe working environments, fair wages, health care benefits and many other nice to have worker friendly things that cost money.  Unlike in Pakistan or China where for the cost of a cup of American Coffee, workers will spend day and night sewing your goods.  So if you want a custom T-Shirt made for $5.00, the U.S. is not the place to be, consider $20.00 to $25.00 your cost for a T-Shirt in the U.S.

3.  The quality and consistency of items made overseas vs. the U.S. will be vastly different, as will the turn around time of the products that you require.  You can bank on 8 weeks minimum for over seas work and import duties, taxes, tarrifs etc … to deal with.

Finding domestic Cut and Sew manufacturing is a challenge, but not impossible.  You you are interested in Cut and Sew in the United States, please consider giving us a call (908) 806-8337 or email us.

All Over Screen Printing

All Over Screen Printing

All Over Screen Printing

An easy way to add instant value and amazing eye appeal to a shirt is to print an All Over Screen Printing design that extends from neck to waist or sleeve to sleeve or both. This type of design work can be seen in the marketplace with bands, zoos, sports teams and big box retailers that all use this type of oversized design work to create background textures to create visual interest for the shirt. A simple one or two color all-over print can spice up the shirt so dramatically, that the main logo does not need to be too elaborate.

All Over Screen Printing

All Over Screen Printing was once accomplished by using very costly belt-printers. This was specialized equipment used for printing huge designs on t-shirts, but the machinery was so expensive only a few printers in the country could afford to own them. Today, refinements in printing technology make this technique possible on standard shirt presses by exchanging some press components and incorporating correctly built artwork. However, there still is a craftsmanship element needed to utilize this technique correctly, having a discussion with your contract screen printer is essential in ensuring that your design requirements can be accomplished.

The primary purpose of an All Over Screen Printing print is to visually spread the design elements throughout the shirt with a single print stroke on the press. This can just be textural, adding visual noise to the shirt, or actual representational graphics. Another common theme is to repeat the main element in a tonal subdued manner to add some visual flair to the design.

As a contract garment, textile and fabric decorator with over three decades of experience, AMBRO Manufacturing specializes in Wholesale Sublimation Printing.

The process of dye sublimation printing is not a complex one, but a process that requires specialized equipment, knowledge and experience.  Using specialty inks, transfer substrates, industrial heat and custom fabrics, Wholesale Sublimation Printing can produce amazing results that will impress any client.

Wholesale Sublimation Printing

When beginning a sublimation project, there are a few important factors to consider before starting your work.  Clearly you will want to identify a high quality and reasonably proceed Wholesale Sublimation Printing company that you can communicate with easily, and that is capable of doing your work.

After selecting the right partner, identifying the proper garment to dye sublimate on and preparing the proper artwork for the project is the next important step.

Custom Dye Sublimation is more of an art than a production process.  While it’s possible to create multiple versions of the same design, there will always be small nuances in each.

In addition, post sew custom dye sublimation will often leave “artifacts” behind, like blank areas where sublimation could not occur due to folds in the garment.  Qualified custom dye sublimation experts like AMBRO Manufacturing do everything possible to keep the number of artifacts low, but it’s impossible for any printer to produce custom dye sublimation gear without some level of folding and artifacts.  Typically these issues occur under the arm pits or on the bottom side areas and if the artwork is created properly, they tend to blend in and not cause an issue.

When comparing the costs and turn around times required for cut and sew projects, where these nuances are a non issue, post sewn custom dye sublimation is often an acceptable alternative, even with these factors.
