Screen printing comes in all different varieties and different styles. There is the standard screen printing that is on the front or backs of garments, all the way up to oversized screen printing. Those styles might be great for you but there is a whole other world of printing that is quite fun to look at.  Today I’m writing about Glitter Screen Printing.

Our glitter screen printing is done just like our normal printing, but uses different ink. The glitter actually has metal flecks in it so that when it hits the lights it has a nice bright reflection, just like the glitter you use for crafts. Now, we don’t have every color of glitter inks, but we do have a clear glitter. With clear glitter we can print a flat standard ink color then put the clear glitter on top. This will make the standard color that you chose have some sparkle.

Glitter screen printing is great for cheerleading teams, dance teams, or weddings. It is also fun for parties or to have a birthday shirt made. Like any other type of screen printing there are some limits that come with screen printing on hats. Since the retail space on a hat is very small, the design or logo cannot have many fine details in it because they will close up with it gets pressed. We have a special press that is the same shape as the hat; instead of a flat screen it has a curve to it so that the hat can fit over top of it without any problems. The typical areas that we use for hat screen printing are the front, and sometimes the back strap if it is flat. With sublimation you can also have a full color image on the entire shirt with no issues in color. The shirt must be 100% polyester to ensure that the ink adheres well to the fabric.

Water Based Printing

Most screen printing companies only do one or maybe two different styles of printing. We however can do so much more. Other than our standard printing that we offer, we can also offer you water based printing. There are not many printers that deal with water based printing and that is where we are different from the rest. The difference with plastisol ink and water based ink is a softer feel on the shirt. With our water based printing you can hardly feel ink on the shirt. It’s like the shirt never got a print on it but yet there is.

Water based ink works on all colors of shirts. We can get any color that you want by mixing a special formula. Some colors tend to feel softer than others, especially if we have to put two layers of ink on the shirt. Water based ink is much thinner than plastisol ink, which is the result of a softer print on the shirt. You can have an all over print or just a simple print on the front or back, the choices are endless.

Discharge Screen Printing Process

Here is a little information about exactly what goes into the discharge screen printing process. First of all, discharge screen printing is meant for very dark colored shirts like black. When printing with discharge ink it will remove the dye of the shirt, almost like when you bleach a colored shirt and it has light areas in it. The design will remove the ink of the shirt and you will see a “bleached out” version of the design. You can also make a discharge print have color by adding colored additives to the discharge agent.

The end result is a nice soft print that you can hardly feel the ink on the shirt, and also it yields a nice vintage old look. Many people are starting to lean towards using water based or discharge ink because of the soft feel of the shirt with a design printed on it. Besides screen printing, we also do digital sublimation. This is another type of printing that will be able to get you very bright, vibrant colors. Unlike screen printing, dye sublimation consists of using a special paper transfer of the design to be printed. When heat pressed the ink on the paper turns into a vapor, which gets dyed into the fabric. With digital sublimation you don’t have to worry about how many colors the print is, since we can do full color.

To use dye sublimation, the shirt or whatever garment you are printing on has to be white and 100% polyester. This will ensure the best print possible. You also want to make sure that the image that you want to use is high resolution. If it is not, then you will risk a pixelated or blurry print. You can have an all over printed shirt with a cool pattern or a simple design, the world is your oyster.
